Ford Motor to invest USD 500 million in India
US based automaker Ford has announced that they are going to further invest USD 500 million in the Indian market.
The company is working on plans to launch a small car in India by 2010.
Michael Boneham, president of Ford India said in a statement: “The Credit crunch and the lack of confidence has affected … the short-term.”
The company has just launched some new variants of their Ford Ikon model which is the cheapest offering from Ford in India.
He added about the automobile industry in general: “We expect 2009 to be a tough year for the industry with about a single-digit growth [rate].”
