AT&T acquires Wayport to expand Wi-Fi services
US based telecom giant AT&T has announced that they are acquiring Wayport.
Wayport is a privately held company that operates more than 10,000 Wi-Fi hot spots in McDonald’s restaurants and hotels.
The deal is worth around USD 275 million.
AT&T would get access to their hotspots located at 2,800 locations as part of this acquisition. These include locations in Wyndham, Marriott Vacation Club and Four Seasons hotels.
AT&T said that they expect this deal to be complete by the end of the year.
