Renault to develop a rival of Tata Nano
Renault has announced that they are going to develop a new model to compete with Tata Nano.
Renault is going to work with Nissan and Bajaj Auto on this new project.
This new product has been codenamed ULC (Ultra Low Cost).
They are aiming to launch it in the market by 2011.
It is likely to be manufactured at their plant in Chakan in Maharashtra.
Sylvain Bilaine, MD, Renault in India spoke about this new model: “The design suggested by Renault was chosen. We have frozen the styling of the car and have decided its final shape. Renault’s team will now continue the styling till production. It is very much on track and there is no change in the plans so far”.
