Panasonic aims to make Sanyo its subsidiary
Panasonic has said in a statement that they are in talks to make Sanyo their subsidiary.
A deal between these two companies could create the Japan’s largest electronics making entity.
Market sources say that the deal between Panasonic and Sanyo could be worth as much as $8.8 billion.
A deal is likely to be announced later today.
Experts believe that Panasonic is interest in Sanyo for their rechargeable batteries business.
Sanyo is a dominating player in this segment of the market.
Market analyst Nagayuki Yamagishi spoke about these developments: “As a result of this merger Panasonic will become a huge firm, the Toyota of the electrical appliance world, and that’s good.”
