HCL aims to expand laptop market share in India
HCL Infosystems has announced that they are aiming to achieve a double digit market share in the laptop segment in India in the next 18 months.
The company currently has a market share of 7.34 per cent in the laptop segment in India.
George Paul, executive vice president, Marketing HCL Infosystems spoke about their plans: “The drop in the sales of laptops in India in the last quarter, is a temporary phenomenon. We attribute that to the increasing difference in costs between the desktops and laptops, especially due to the rise in dollar value. We are confident of garnering a double digit market share in the laptop segment in India in the next 18 months.”
Dollar is much stronger compared to Rupee and this has result in increased prices of laptops in the Indian market.
This has resulted in customers going back to purchasing desktops instead of laptops.
HCL added: “Going ahead, we will be working on increasing the use of indigenous components in laptops, in the same way what we have done in the case of desktops.”
