Warner expected to resume talks with EMI

The Sunday Times newspaper has reported that the British music company EMI Group might soon resume their talks with the U.S. based rival Warner Music Group .

They are said to be currently preparing to resume talks that could lead to the creation of the world’s third-biggest music company.

This would setup a stage where the two parties would resume merger talks within months. The newspaper however declined to reveal their sources for this information.

The two involved parties are yet to comment on these rumors in the market. Warner and EMI have already courted each other a number of times in the past but faced opposition from the regulatory authorities.

The newspaper report also claimed that EMI is believed to have briefed Citigroup and UBS to advise it and Warner Music has lined up Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers.
