Tata Motors firing 3000 temporary workers in Pune plant

India’s leading commercial vehicles manufacturer Tata Motors is cutting around 3000 jobs in their Pune plant.

This job cut would hurt the temporary workers at the plant.

The company had taken a similar step in their other plant in Jamshedpur.

With this, the company has now cut around 6000 jobs in their operations.

Tata Motors representative Sujit Patil said that the workers losing their jobs were on seven-month contracts.

The company did not confirm the exact number of jobs which are being cut in this latest round.

Tata Motors said: “Like other companies in the automobile industry, Tata Motors engages temporary workmen in manufacturing by definition on temporary assignment based on requirement, and they are disengaged after the completion of the specific job or time period.”
