Research In Motion wants to acquire Certicom
Makers of Blackberry smartphones, Research In Motion have announced their plans to offer an acquisition deal to encryption software company Certicom.
RIM is planning to offer C$1.50 a share in cash for a total value of about C$66 million for this company.
RIM said that their offer is a 76.5 percent premium over the closing price of Certicom stock on Dec 2.
They are going to make this offer directly to shareholders in the company as talks with the company itself have not materialized.
RIM said that they would be using funds available to them already for this deal.
