RIM to pay Nokia patent related royalties
World’s leading mobile phone maker Nokia has stated that Research in Motion would be paying it an up-front payment and royalties related to usage of its wireless technology patents.
Nokia said that RIM has just renewed a multi-year patent license agreement with it.
The details of the deal signed between the two companies have not been released to the media.
Nokia did say that the payments are related to patents connected to GSM, WCDMA and CDMA2000 technologies.
The company added: “Today’s announcement demonstrates the success of Nokia’s increased focus on patent out-licensing.”
