Volkswagen advances production plans at Chakan plant
While other automakers are cutting production and slowing down expansion plans, Volkswagen India are doing something different.
The company has announced that they would start production at their new Chakan factory in Maharashtra from April 2009.
This would be much ahead of the original schedule.
The company decided to take this step as demand for their cars is increasing rapidly.
VW already has a manufacturing plant located in Aurangabad which is operated by their subsidiary Skoda.
This plant manufactures VW models including Passat and Jetta.
Skoda also manufacture their models Fabia, Octavia, Laura and Superb at the same plant.
