Wal-Mart Stores to pay big to settle 63 lawsuits
Wal-Mart Stores has announced that they are going to pay as much as $640 million to settle around 63 lawsuits filed against them related to wage-and-hour violations.
This settlement would end legal disputes which have been going on for years.
Wal-Mart said that the final amount to be paid would depend upon how many claims are submitted by eligible workers.
However, each of the settlement would require an approval from a trial court.
Tom Mars, Wal-Mart’s executive vice president and general counsel spoke about the company’s position on this new development: “Our policy is to pay associates for every hour worked and to provide rest and meal breaks.”
