Maruti sales down 10% in December 2008

Maruti Suzuki India has revealed that their sales were down 10% last month.

The company sold 56,293 units against 62,515 units in the same month in the previous year.

Maruti sold 52,029 units in the domestic market. This was down from 58,401 units sold in December 2007.

Exports were slightly up as the company has started exporting their recently launched A-Star model to European market.

Sales of Maruti 800 is down to 2,907 units against 7,190 units in 2007.

The Indian automotive market is in a slump slightly with rising interest rates and the economic crisis in the market.
