JPG Magazine closing down operations
JPG Magazine is a popular print and web based magazine which has now announced that they are closing down their operations.
JPG Magazine editor-in-chief Laura Brunow Miner said in a blog post about this decision: “We’ve spent the last few months trying to make the business behind JPG sustain itself, and we’ve reached the end of the line. We all deeply believe in everything JPG represents, but just weren’t able to raise the money needed to keep JPG alive in these extraordinary economic times. As a result, jpgmag.com will shut down on Monday.”
8020 Media had acquired the magazine two years ago. They too are likely to shut down their operations due to the current economic crisis which has made it hard for media companies to stay profitable.
8020 chief executive Mitchell Fox has been quoted as saying: “In the face of these extraordinary economic times, in a devastated advertising climate, we can no longer continue to operate the business due to lack of funds, and hence we have to close 8020 Media effective immediately.”
