Mahendra Singh Dhoni to endorse Tata Sonata

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is now the brand ambassador for yet another popular Indian brand. Tata have roped in this dashing Indian cricketer to endorse their largest selling watch brand, Sonata.

Tata is targeting a growth of 20 to 25 per cent at 50 lakh units in 2006-07 against 40 lakh units sold in 2005-06 with this watch brand and they would be using the star power of Dhoni to promote it even further in the Indian market.

Sonata business head C Srinivasan said in a statement on this announcement: “We expect a growth of 20 to 25 per cent at 50 lakh units in 2006-07 with an increase of market share in the target segment by five per cent.”

Dhoni would be endorsing the Sonata brand for a period of two years. Tata sells Sonata watches through a retail network of over 10,000 dealers and primarily operates in sub Rs 1000 watch market.
