AsianWeek latest print media entity to go online only
San Fransisco based AsianWeek has announced that they are now dropping their print edition to go online only.
The 30 year old newspaper is the latest media entity to announce such development.
Advertising revenues for print media companies are falling and they are cutting costs to stay alive.
AsianWeek president and editor James Fang and publisher Ted Fang said in a note that the Friday’s edition would be the last print version of the newspaper.
The newspaper has a circulation of nearly 60,000.
The note stated: “There are fewer major newspapers, fewer newspaper readers and fewer newspaper advertisers than ever before. Asian Pacific Americans have led the way in the digital revolution, migrating away from print media and into receiving their news and information electronically. To reflect these changing times, AsianWeek will cease regular newspaper publication immediately. We will continue to publish online and in special newspaper editions.”
