Ford aiming to launch a small electric car in USA in 2011
Ford Motor has announced that they are aiming to launch an electric car in the US market by 2011.
This launch would be part of their plan to have electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles on sale within the next four years.
Ford is working with Magna International to develop the electric car for the US market.
They are going to use lithium-ion batteries for this car. Ford said that the vehicle should have a range of up to 100 miles per charge.
Ford said that this vehicle would be targeted at the urban markets.
Ford Chief Executive Alan Mulally added: “We are moving to more hybrids, whether they are regular hybrids or plug-in hybrids.”
