Motorola announces more job cuts for 2009
The rumors turned out to be true. US based mobile phone maker Motorola is going to cut more jobs this year.
The company has now confirmed that they are going to cut 4,000 more jobs in 2009.
These latest job cuts are in addition to 3,000 it announced last year.
Motorola added that they are aiming to save about $700 million a year starting in 2009.
The total saving would come to around $1.5 billion per year.
The company added that they are now expecting revenue for the fourth quarter to be between $7 billion and $7.2 billion.
Motorola has been struggling to compete against the emerging players in the mobile phone market.
Apple and Google are becoming the new giants of the industry with the iPhone and Android powered mobile phones.
