Nikkei reporting a deal between Toshiba and Fujitsu

Japanese newspaper Nikkei is reporting that Toshiba and Fujitsu have entered into a deal.

The two companies have reached an agreement which would see Toshiba acquiring Fujitsu’s hard-disk drive business.

The deal is worth between $340 million to $450 million.

If this news is true, it would create the world’s largest manufacturer of small hard drives.

The report added a finalized deal would be signed by the end of the month.

Toshiba spokesman Keisuke Ohmori confirmed that they are in talks with Fujitsu but clarified that no deal has been signed till now.

Toshiba and Fujitsu are the dominating manufacturers of 2.5-inch drives which are used in notebooks and laptops.
