Carlos Slim to invest $250 million in The New York Times
The New York Times has announced that they have signed on a deal with Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim.
The deal would see Slim making an investment of $250 million in the news media giant.
These funds would help the NYT to meet the immediate financial needs.
Incidentally, Slim already owns 6.9 percent of the Times’s stock. His stake is likely to increase with this fresh investment.
It is not clear whether he would want to expand his ownership in the company.
Times Chief Financial Officer James Follo has stated that Slim’s involvement in the NYT is purely financial.
