Boeing 787 order canceled by S7

Russia’s S7 has become the first airline company to cancel their order for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner plane.

The company is going through a financial crisis and they are probably not be able to afford the plane.

They had placed an order for 15 planes. These were to be delivered in 2014. The order was worth around $2.4 billion at list prices.

The plane has been delayed and it is already two years behind schedule. This new development is a major disappointment for the US based Boeing.

S7 has said that they are considering leasing these plans to cut costs in the near future. It said: “S7 retains interest in using the Dreamliner and at the moment is looking into receiving the planes under a leasing scheme at an earlier date, for which it is in negotiations with several leasing companies.”
