ABC to see 200 job cuts
Walt Disney is said to be close to announcing a job cut in their ABC division.
Market sources say that around 200 jobs could be cut at ABC.
The company could freeze an additional 200 vacant jobs to cut costs in these tough economic times.
This measure would mean that the company would reduce around 5 percent of the total workforce.
Disney has already announced their plans to merge ABC Entertainment and ABC Studios into a single organization.
Anne Sweeney, co-chair of Disney-Media Networks and president of Disney-ABC Television has bee quoted as saying: “After months of making hard decisions across our businesses to help us adjust to a weakening economy, we’re now faced with the harsh reality of having to eliminate jobs in some areas. This was not an easy decision, nor one made lightly. The people affected today are our friends and colleagues, and we are doing all we can for them and their families during what we know will be a difficult transition.”
