Coke drops Classic term from its brand
Coca-Cola has announced that they are now removing the term Classic from their brand.
A company representative said: “The reason for being, for classic as a descriptor, has all but disappeared.”
Classic was added to the company’s logo in 1985. They had launched a new formula based drink which was called New Coke. It was a failed venture and the company reverted back to the older formula.
Coke added that they decided to drop the term as they are all set to launch a new global marketing campaign named Open Happiness.
Market analyst John Sicher spoke about Coke: “Taking it off will modestly contemporize the brand because, to some people, classic doesn’t sound youthful and contemporary.”
