Maruti Suzuki sold record number of cars in January

Times might be tough for the Indian auto industry but Maruti Suzuki seems to be doing just fine.

The company has just posted their highest ever monthly sales of 71,779 units in the month of January.

They had previously touched the sales mark of 71,772 cars in March 2007.

Maruti said that the sales were up 5.4 per cent over the same period last year.

The sales in the domestic market was around 67,005 cars. This is a major improvement over sales of 56,293 units in December last year.

Customers avoid buying cars in the last month of the year because it tends to decrease the resale value of the car.
