Visto Corp. sues Research in Motion for patent infringement
The problem does not seem to end for the makers of blackberry device as Research in Motion has been sued again. This time, Visto Corp., a mobile e-mail technology firm has sued RIM claiming that RIM has infringed on four of its patents.
Visto is seeking an injunction and monetary damages. This comes just two months after Research in Motion settled a similar lawsuit to avert a shutdown of its services in the North America.
RIM said in a statement that they believe that the claims made by Visto are not valid. They added that this lawsuit should not affect their customers.
Visto on their part said: “We are asking at this point for an injunction that prohibits RIM from selling products that infringe our technology and our patents. We are prepared to go the distance and to go for as long as it takes to find a resolution. We feel that our patents are valid and we believe that they are infringed.”
RIM responded in a statement: “RIM believes it does not infringe Visto’s patents and will file its legal response in due course.” In addition, RIM is also considering asserting its own patents against Visto.
