Vodafone and Hutchison Whampoa to merge Australian operations
Vodafone and Hutchison Whampoa have announced that they are now going to merge their operations in the Australian market.
The two companies would now form a joint venture and both would own 50% in it.
The new entity has been named VHA Pty Ltd and it would result in a deferred payment to Vodafone of A$500 million.
This new entity is formed by Vodafone Australia and Hutchison 3G Australia which is owned by Hutchison Telecommunications (Australia).
