Wal-Mart to cut 800 jobs in headquarters

Wal-Mart has announced that they would be cutting around 800 positions in their headquarters.

These jobs would be cut from its corporate office in Northwest Arkansas over the next few weeks.

This latest job cut announcement is part of company’s plan to cut costs during these tough times.

Wal-Mart Spokesman David Tovar said that these jobs would be cut from company’s merchandising, real estate, marketing and support staff at Wal-Mart headquarters in Bentonville.

Wal-Mart has around 14,000 people working in their headquarters.

Wal-Mart chief executive Mike Duke had this to say on this announcement: “We do not make these decisions lightly. We must also challenge costs in every corner of the company in order to keep our business strong today and well into the future.”

Market analyst David Nassar however was disappointed: “We would have hoped that during this tough time, the company would have used some of that wealth to reinvest in its workforce.”
