Honda Civic Hybrid disappears from showrooms in India
Honda has announced that they are not going to retail Civic Hybrid from showrooms any more.
If a customer is interested in getting one, he would have to place an order which would then be delivered after a while.
The company would directly import that order from Japan and this could take weeks if not months.
Honda Civic Hybrid has an interesting history in the Indian market.
The company launched it at a steep price due to the heavy import duty. Few customers were interested in it.
Honda had to offer it at a major discount to clear the stock. All the available units were sold at the discounted price.
The company has now decided to no longer keep a stock of the cars as the demand is low.
Honda said: “After the customer places an order, the company will take 3-4 months to bring it to India.”
Indian government has little to offer to the companies offering hybrids through the import route. Till that is not fixed, we would have few options to go for these next generation cars.
