Lenovo Group to cut 450 jobs in China

China based personal computer maker Lenovo Group has announced that they would now cut 450 jobs in the domestic market as part of their cost cutting initiative.

The company said that these job cuts would be applicable on positions that support Lenovo’s global business.

Yang Yuanqing, the company’s CEO had this to say on the announcement: “While our business in China remains very strong, many of our global support functions have employees based in China. Although difficult, these reductions are a necessary part of our response to the global economic downturn.”

These are in addition to 2,500 layoffs Lenovo had announced last month.

The company is focusing on their domestic market for growth as this is where sales are faltering.
