Volkswagen Beetle coming to India this year
Volkswagen has plans to bring the original people’s car Beetle to the Indian market sometime later year.
Things would become even more interesting with the launch of the Volkswagen Polo early next year.
Volkswagen India-Project Head Ludwig Geerken had this to say on the future launches by the company in India: “We will launch the Beetle by the end of October. We have no plans to alter our decision to invest Rs 3,600 crore in India.”
He further said: “We will start making the Polo in our Pune plant… by January and launch it by March next year. Production will start a little earlier so that we can keep enough inventories with our dealers.”
VW Polo is likely to be a competitively priced model. Though the Beetle is going to be expensive considering it would be brought as completely built unit (CBU) in India.
