Mercedes-Benz India to expand their R&D unit
The Indian division of luxury automobile maker Mercedes Benz has announced that they are planning to expand their research and development (R&D) facility in India.
The company is aiming to have 1,000 engineers in the coming times. They currently have around 200 engineers working for them at this facility.
Mercedes-Benz India MD and CEO Wilfried Aulbur had this to say on their plans: “Eventually, it will be one of the largest R&D facility of Mercedes outside Germany and will cater to the technical needs of our company.”
Mercedes has interestingly just lost their number 1 position in the luxury car segment to BMW which has been on a roll in the Indian market.
Audi is also trying hard to catch up with the former market leader.
