eSys Information Technologies eyeing Indian market
After Dell, more companies are showing interest in opening up a PC manufacturing base here in India. The latest news coming in claims that Singapore-headquartered, eSys Information Technologies has plans to establish a unit in Haryana for manufacturing personal computers for the retail market.
They are eyeing to establish the unit in Gurgaon near the international airport in Delhi. In addition, the company also has plans to establish a worldwide back-office operations centre in Chandigarh. They have acquired a 10-acre plot in Chandigarh IT Park for this purpose.
This back-office operations center would be operational by the end of the year and they would be employing around 2000 people in this setup. The total investment from the company in the Indian market is expected to touch an impressive Rs 1,125 crores in both these projects.
They are also already running a small sized assembling unit in Okhla Industrial Area in Delhi and manufacture just around 300 computers a month. However, this is meager compared to the sales of the company around the country, which stands at around 10,000 PCs a month. They have to import the rest of the units, which puts a lot of pressure on company’s resources and drains profits.
They have plans to acquire a 10-acre plot to build a plant with capacity to produce 2m units of desktops and notebooks a year.
