GM India small car to cost around Rs. 4 lakh
General Motors is expected to launch another small car in the Indian market later this year.
This car is likely to cost around Rs. 4 lakh.
Sources say that this new car from the company will have a 50% indigenisation component.
GM India is also scheduled to launch their Chevrolet Cruz compact sedan later this year.
The company said in a statement: “In 2009, we had planned to launch three products. We’ve already launched the Captiva automatic. The two other cars will be launched in the second half of 2009. We are also looking to rationalize versions under a certain product category.”
GM India vice president (VSSM) Ankush Arora added: “Expenditure for setting up new product lines will be met through internal accruals of GM’s India operations. The new products will be manufactured at our new plant at Talegaon as well as in our old plant at Halol in Gujarat.”
