Tata Nano likely to have little commission for the dealers
Tata Nano has been launched in the Indian market and the bookings would start next month.
The car has become the cheapest model on sale in the world.
The low price of the car also means that the Tata dealers would gain little on the sale of each unit.
Market sources say that the dealer margin on the Nano is likely to be between 2-2.5%.
This figure is much smaller compared to other models on sale in the market today.
The reason is simple. Tata has worked hard to ensure that the car is priced low enough to challenge Maruti in this space.
The margins are so little that the company is not expected to make a profit on the Nano for around three years.
In the end, the company dealers are unlikely to benefit much from the sales of the Nano unless they can get creative enough to sell enough accessories to make a tidy profit.

I live in America, what would I need to do to buy
a Nano automobile? Would it be best for me to come
to India and make a purchase from an Idian dealership
and have it shiped to New York Port Authority? What
would be your sugestion? Thankyou, R. Britten
