Apple, Dell, HP sued by The PACid Group
The PACid Group has filed a lawsuit against 19 companies including Apple, Atheros, Broadcom, Dell, Edimax, Gateway, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Lenovo, Marvell, Realtek, and Toshiba.
The lawsuit claims that these companies infringe upon their patented technologies.
The patent involved in this lawsuit is U.S. patent No. 5,963,646, “Secure deterministic encryption key generator system and method”.
This patent describes an encryption key generator.
The PACid Group describes themselves as a research firm specializing in encryption technologies.
Incidentally, a couple of companies sued in this lawsuit are members of the Coalition for Patent Fairness.
