Orbitz Worldwide suspends booking fees
Orbitz Worldwide has become one of the largest online travel agencies to suspend their booking fees.
The fees are suspended for air travel tickets.
Expedia had launched a similar scheme last month to boost the sales of tickets from their web service.
Priceline has been the primary supporter of this scheme as they have been gaining market share in the recent times.
Market analyst George Askew spoke about the new developments in the market: “We view the suspension of air booking fees at Orbitz as a competitive response designed to stem market share losses, and we believe the move is unlikely to benefit Orbitz given the financial importance of booking fees at the company.”
