Volkswagen… World’s largest automaker?
It just might have happened. Toyota recently overtook General Motors to become the largest car seller in the world.
However, considering the Japanese auto giant is also struggling in these tough times… market sources say that Volkswagen just might have taken the top spot in the first three months of the year.
VW had set a goal to become the largest automaker in the world by 2018…
Looks like the worsening economic condition might help them out with improved performances in their strong markets.
VW has brands like Audi, Skoda, Seat and Scania selling cars in all the major markets around the world.
Market analyst Koji Endo spoke about Volkswagen: “Volkswagen is a big competitor for Toyota. Audi is strong, Volkswagen is strong, and they’re making good use of their small cars.”
A clearer picture is likely to emerge in the coming days with most automakers expected to come out with their sales reports.
