IndiGo Airlines to start operating their own planes by July-August this year
One of the most exciting startup in the Indian aviation market IndiGo Airlines is expected to start operating with their own aircrafts by July-August this year. The company surprised many with their mega order for 100 Airbus aircraft at the Paris Air Show last year.
IndiGo Airlines President and CEO Bruce Ashby told PTI in an interview: “The delivery of our first aircraft will take place some time in July and we will start operations soon thereafter. We plan to start between July one and August five.”
The order placed with the European airline manufacturer was for A-320, A-319 and A-321 planes and the deliveries are expected to begin by July this year. Airbus would be delivering around 10 aircrafts to the company each year for the next ten years helping them to establish a solid fleet as the time passes by.
The company also has plans to become the latest one to offer low priced tickets to the consumers to compete in the market currently dominated by SpiceJet and Air Deccan. The prices are expected to be comprehensively lower than the bigger players in the market like Indian, Air India, Jet Airways, and Air Sahara.
