Mobile operators in India get access to credit history of customers
Credit Information Bureau India has announced that mobile service providers in the country can now access credit history of a potential customer to see if he is eligible to get a post paid mobile connection.
This also applies to insurance companies too.
The new developments also now give individuals the right to know about their credit history from the credit bureaus.
Terry McCafferty, COO, CIBIL said: “The approval gives us the right to continue our operations and allows telecom companies and insurers to access the CIBIL database. We need to develop and enable our systems so that all this can be put to effect soon.”
He added: “We have been in discussions with telecom companies related to the application of credit data for their use. However, our discussions with insurers are limited at this stage.”
