Indian National Congress sweeps the elections in India
Indian National Congress has managed to sweep the elections in India.
This is the biggest such victory by any party in India since 1991.
Congress led United Progressive Alliance has emerged as the group with the maximum number of seats and they should be able to provide the country with a stable government.
India’s current Prime Minister Manmohan Singh spoke about the election result: “The people of India have spoken, and spoken with great clarity. It will be our effort to rise up to their expectations.”
He has now urged Rahul Gandhi to join the government as a cabinet minister. Rahul is the son of Sonia Gandhi who is the leader of the Congress party.
