Manmohan Singh to remain Prime Minister of India
Indian National Congress has announced that they have chosen current PM Dr. Manmohan Singh as their leader for the second consecutive term.
This now clears the way of the formation of the government later this week.
Dr. Manmohan Singh was chosen unanimously and there was no voting required by the party members.
Incidentally, Singh was the official Prime Minister candidate of Congress before the elections.
Congress led UPA coalition has managed to win 261 seats in India’s 543-seat Parliament. It is slightly less than the majority number of seats they required.
Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party have already announced that they are ready to support the formation of government led by Congress.
