GM to build small cars in USA
General Motors has announced that they would now be manufacturing a new small car in the US market at one of their idled plants.
The company said that the plant would be able to manufacture 160,000 small and compact cars per year.
GM has yet not decided which plant they would use to produce the small cars for sale in the US market.
The company had earlier planned to sell small cars imported from China in the US market. They seem to have changed that plan after talks with the United Auto Workers.
GM is close to filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. They are also going to close down several more plants as part of the restructuring process.
