Virgin Atlantic to expand its operations in India

Virgin Atlantic has confirmed that they are aiming at doubling capacity on the India-UK route. This announcement comes after British Airways and Lufthansa both announced similar plans to carry more and more Indians into their respective countries and other parts of the world.

Jeo Thompson, GM (India), Virgin Atlantic said in a statement on their plans: “We currently operate daily flights out of Mumbai and Delhi to London. We are looking at double daily flights on these routes and also new destinations in South India.”

The company also claimed that India is one of the priority markets for their head Sir Richard Branson. Virgin Atlantic also launched its first class suite on the India-UK sector and is now planning to bring the company’s low-cost arm into India.

Thompson added: “India is absolutely a key market. We are doing 70 per cent load factor and our new product will further increase sales.”
