Honda Civic Hybrid might be relaunched in India
Honda Civic Hybrid has had a rather interesting life in the Indian market.
The company shocked market experts by launching it a while ago.
Because of the heavy import duty, the car was launched at a very steep price which placed it in the range of the Honda Accord model.
The car failed to generate enough interest in the market.
The result was that Honda had to offload their stock at a heavy discount.
Honda then discontinued the model and said that interested customers would have to place a special order for it and they would deliver it to him in a couple of week’s time.
Things are changing now. Honda is now considering bringing back Honda Civic Hybrid for regular sale in India.
They are however expecting to get some relief from the Indian government. Honda said that the Indian government should consider slashing the import duty on the hybrid and eco-friendly cars in India.
The import duty itself was responsible for the Rs. 21 lakh price tag on the Hybrid model. The regular Civic is sold for around Rs. 13 lakhs.
