MTV to expand in Chinese market
Music broadcasting giants MTV are now considering expanding their presence in the China market by expanding into Internet and mobile value-added services.
William Roedy, vice-chairman of MTV Networks and president of MTV Networks International said in a statement on this topic: “I am not discouraged, but encouraged by what is happening in China.”
The company is eyeing the 340 million families who have access to television networks in the country. In addition, China is one of the biggest markets of mobile phones and internet users.
Roedy hinted that the company would soon launch broadband services to China but no specifics were revealed.
The company is reportedly already working with China Mobile and they provide MTV content to China Mobile users in the form of ring tones, music and picture downloads.
