GM to manufacture small cars in Michigan
US based automaker General Motors has announced that they have selected Michigan as their preferred location to manufacture small cars.
The company is now dropping their plans to close two plants near Detroit.
They would now manufacture these small cars at its Orion Township assembly plant which was originally scheduled to be closed later this year.
GM picked Michigan over plants in Janesville, Wis., and Spring Hill, Tenn.
The company had also considered manufacturing small cars in China and then import them in USA for sale.
But they dropped that idea after discussions with the United Automobile Workers union in May.
