Sprint outsourcing network operations to Ericsson
Sprint Nextel has announced a major deal with Ericsson.
The US based mobile service giant announced that they are now transferring their day-to-day management of its network to Ericsson.
The deal would see Ericsson absorbing around 6000 Sprint workers.
The deal could be worth as much as USD 5 billion. It is currently set for a period of seven years.
The two companies announced that the Sprint workers involved in the relevant departments would start working as Ericsson employees from the third quarter of the current year.
Sprint said that through this deal they are aiming to further streamline their operations.
