Maruti Suzuki Ritz: Ford India had the rights to the name Splash

Maruti Suzuki Ritz was recently launched in the Indian market.

This car is known as Suzuki Splash in the international market.

The company originally wanted to launch this car with the same name in India but the name was registered by a rival company.

Ford India had applied for this name with the Controller General of Patents Designs and Trademarks Registry way back in 2002.

Ford has not used this name for any of their cars since then.

Industry sources believe that the company might launch their upcoming small car with this name though Ford has responded by saying that they have not decided on anything yet.
