Carl Icahn still wants a deal between Yahoo and Microsoft
Carl Icahn owns around 5% of Yahoo and he has expressed his support for a possible deal between Microsoft and Yahoo.
Industry sources have claimed that the two companies have begun talks once again for a possible deal on search related operations.
Yahoo and Microsoft have not commented on these rumors.
Microsoft has started it all when they offered $47.5 billion for an acquisition deal. Yahoo had declined that offer.
Icahn said: “I’ve been a strong advocate of getting a search deal done with Microsoft. It would enhance value if a deal got done, because of the synergies involved.”

Of course, Mr Icahn only has the long term interests of Yahoo in mind – NOT. I’m sure he’ll be a shareholder a few years from now when Yahoo has once again realized it did itself in when it relinquished a key asset to a would be competitor in the interactive space. History repeats itself – Yahoo used to outsource search to Google. Google is forever thankful for that.
No, Mr Icahn will be long gone by that point.
Q: How do you spell Yahoo without search?
A: AOL
