Motorola posts a quarterly profit despite slowing sales
Motorola is making a steady comeback into the mobile phone market.
The company has just posted a small quarterly profit despite slowing down sales.
This is an encouraging results compared to the loss in the same period last year.
Motorola said that they have managed to cut costs. Mobile phone sales are also down but they still managed to beat the market expectations.
The US based company posted a profit of $26 million. Revenues were however down 32 percent to $5.5 billion.
Motorola shipped around 14.8 million phones in the quarter. This number is down from 28 million phones in the same period last year.
Motorola is now focusing on developing a new generation of smartphones powered by Google Android mobile platform.
They are expected to launch at least two new models before the end of the current year.
