GM aims to launch a plug-in Buick by 2011
American automaker General Motors has announced that they are working on a plug-in edition of Buick that could arrive in the market by 2011.
This new model could become the first commercially available plug-in hybrid sport-utility vehicle by a major automaker in the US market.
GM is already scheduled to launch their Chevrolet Volt hybrid car sometime next year.
The company has been working on eco-friendly cars for the US market with the aim of winning back consumer confidence.
GM Vice Chairman Tom Stephens had this to say: “We’ve been given the opportunity of a lifetime and we know the hard part is just beginning. We have to convince consumers to give us a chance.”
The company still lacks a solid challenger to the Toyota Prius which remains the best selling hybrid car in the world.
